July 4th!

Today starts my favorite holiday weekend of the year, July 4th! Sunshine, sand, sparkling ocean, burgers, pasta salad, hot dogs, and good friends...what could be more perfect? Put on your red, white, and blue best and rock the weekend away. As for me I'll be hopping on my beach cruiser and starting my weekend with a bike ride with my two best friends. Hope your weekend is fabulous.

A Girl Can Dream

I've never been one of those girls who dreams about her wedding day. I have friends who are obsessed with wedding shows, blogs, etc...I just don't get it. Sure, diamonds are nice but who wants a dress that can only be worn once. In two weeks, my mom will be getting married and as much as I dislike the idea of marriage, its kind of cute. To get into the spirit of things I've been searching wedding blogs looking for decoration ideas. On my search I stumbled upon this classic wedding video.

Brian & Eileen's Wedding Music Video. from LOCKDOWN projects on Vimeo.

So fun, now on to the day I dream about...getting my dream closet. Think Cher in Clueless and Carrie Bradshaw's closets only better.
That's true love.

Take Me Baby or Leave Me

I spent the day working on my knitwear, feeling slightly uninspired, I went searching for something to change that and stubbled upon this magnificent gown. The dress was hand-knitted by textile designer, Jemma Sykes. It's completely made of organic wool.

Today You are You...

...that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You -Dr Seuss

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasty is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities." -Dr Seuss

there are 24 usable hours in the day

Ever feel like you have a never ending to do list? 24 hours just aren't enough in a day. Life is a balancing act that I have almost mastered perfectly with the help of red bull, coffee, and tea. I have a couple of DIY projects that just keep being pushed to the bottom of my list...such as beading lace tights and shredding vintage tees. I promise I'll get to these eventually and post the results. This weekend was completely exhausting between designing, work, and recouping from a nasty fall down the stairs.
Ziggy and I could just not stay awake today
I spoke to a woman the other day who went to art school and loved painting and said she just doesn't have time for it anymore. After hearing this I decided I'm going to make more time for the things I push to the bottom of my list. As much as I love grad school (best decision of my life) and the work I have to do daily for it, sometimes it's just nice to do something I don't have to do. Never give up something you love because of time...set aside a few hours once a week and ALWAYS make time for the people in your life.

It's Gonna Be a Happy New Year

Happy New Year from Ziggy and I.
Bracelets: Nomination and Juicy Couture
Studded Belt: BCBG
Tights: Target
Booties: Madden Girl

I had to start the new year in this charming Alice and Olivia dress. It has pleated puff sleeves and lovely scalloping on the bottom. I added a black studded belt, black tights, and some studded booties to add some rock to the otherwise elegant dress. I hope 2010 brings wonderful things to everyone. I usually don't make new year resolutions but I think this year is a time for new beginnings.
Goals for 2010:

.Be Kind to Those Who Deserve it Least.

.Read a poem daily.

.Create something beautiful once a week outside of school.

.Blog more.

.Make sure all my friends know how amazing they are.

.Send more handwritten notes.

What are your resolutions for the new year?

freedom in the night

follow your dreams...and find yourself
"I have worn so many masks in my life that quite often,

I find myself forgetting who I really am

Sometimes I feel like life is a game and I play with myself and others

More than anything, I long to collect all the pieces of my life

and put the puzzle back together again"

"she looked at him and all she saw was a stranger. the boy she once loved was gone. she knew it was time to fly away. she looked down from the sky and took one more glimpse at the stranger then left it all behind"

"I'm thankful that no matter how dark things might get, old friendships can still be rekindled. I'm thankful for new relationships that help us realize how far we've come from who we were and how close we get when we can really be ourselves. I'm thankful to know that no matter what they say you can go home...whether it's your home or not."

Big Kid at Heart

I found this picture and fell in love, why didn't I have a room like this when I was younger? All kids deserve this awesome of a room.

Happy Friday!

I've been insanely busy with grad school and slacking with blogging.  While hunting for inspiration and drowning in tea to stay awake...I found this amazing illustrator, Rita Lee.  Check her out.

meet me at the beach

love via le love

"They say summer love is fleeting. But sometimes what starts as a fling, can lead to the real thing. A simple trip to the beach can be all it takes to clear our heads and open our heads, and write a new ending to an old story."
